My blog has been called "None of the Above" since I started it, several years ago. That may seem rather random or meaningless, but in fact it isn't.

What was I thinking when I named it that? Well, I generally feel that I am quite different from the average person in my town, county, state or country. How so? Let me count the ways: I don't watch television, I hate automatics (and have only ever owned stick-shifts), I speak French and like France, I do not like most american sports (football, baseball, basketball, etc), I use Linux and avoid windows as much as possible. I could go on, but that is enough to illustrate the point.

I would bet that those characteristics make me completely unique amongst people in my town and county; perhaps even in the state, or country. I would also wager that a fair percentage of the populace differ with me on all of those points, and, furthermore, that they are much, much more similar to each other than they are to me.

So what does that have to do with the title of my blog? If you were to make a short list of characteristics shared by a majority of the population of this country, many people would match all the criteria, and most people would match at least some. As for how I would fit in this list... well, there you have it.

This blog was started in late 2003 or early 2004 using Movable Type . After going into hibernation for six months, it reemerged in late 2004 using B2Evolution. Mostly because of some poorly handled security issues in B2E, I switched to Serendipity in mid 2005 and I've been very happy with it since.
